SLU alum center wins Link Award

Members of the Hammond Garden Club Link Award Committee have presented their February award to the Southeastern Louisiana Alumni Center at 500 University Ave., Hammond.
Angelo and Trish Distefano, owners of Angelo’s Landscape Group, donated the design, construction, and landscaping for a side entrance renovation. The Distefanos are both alumni who met as SLU students.
Landscaping includes Northern Belle Sweetbay magnolia, large camellia “Cotton Candy,” camellia “Dwarf Shishi,” dwarf Japanese yew “Pringles,” dwarf azaleas “Shinzen,” pink muhly grass, pansies, dwarf snapdragons, Shasta daisies and dusty miller.
The Link Award, created in 1961, is awarded to a business to recognize beautification and improvements which include landscaping.
