Club chooses Garden of the Month
Hammond Garden Club chose a garden on East Morris Avenue as the October Garden of the Month.
It is hard to imagine two more enthusiastic gardeners than the residents, Thom Castano and Kirk Cramer.
They are always on the lookout for blooming plants, and that quest is beautifully reflected in their late summer garden featuring angel trumpets, orange and red cannas, spider lilies, moon flowers and Chinese ginger among various other plants.
All this lush understory is tucked around nine different tree species and an array of gardenia, azalea and holly bushes.
The verdant garden is a result of hours of loving care and a commitment to 100 percent eco-friendly fertilizer and pest control.
This garden is worth watching year-round as there is always something interesting in bloom. It was a special treat to find it in such good condition this October after the hot dry summer.
