The Hammond Garden Club has designated the garden of Michael and Jeanne Ancelet at 44171 Audubon Circle, Audubon Lakes subdivision, as its Garden of the Month for August 2023. The front of the house is framed by lantana with various colors of blooms in front of miniature azaleas. These are interspersed by clumps of Agapanthus. Beside the front door stand two large cedar trees, and to the far right of each flower bed stand large hibiscus plants. In addition to these appear a large magnolia tree, creeping lantana, an Oak Leaf hydrangea, and blue plumbago.
The back garden shows off Jeanne’s eye for color and love of variety. Behind the pool, a stand of bright orange cannas immediately draws the eye. These are flanked by large banana trees, a large Japanese Magnolia, and miniature gardenias. Other plants include yellow ligustrum, a fire bush, bougainvillea, blue and pink hydrangeas, pineapple ginger, miniature crepe myrtle, and firecracker lantana. This is a garden that will be beautiful in every season.
The Hammond Garden Club is a member of District VI Louisiana Garden Clubs Federation, Deep South Garden Clubs, and National Garden Clubs.
