The Hammond Garden Club awarded the August Garden of the Month to Mrs. Eddie Klein of West Pleasant Ridge Road, Hammond.
The family moved to the Northshore in 1994 and settled in Loranger where they had beautiful plant and vegetable gardens.
As the family dynamics changed, downsizing to a smaller home and moving closer to Hammond seemed the logical next step. The recently renovated home was the perfect size, but the yard was barren and needed a lot of work.
Patricia’s love of plants and flowers is evident in the landscaping she has achieved in the Pleasant Ridge Home. Recent hip surgery prevented her from doing all the work herself, so a good friend helped her with plant selection and did the manual labor.
Crepe myrtles and azaleas line the front flower bed against the road. Surrounding the house are flax lilies, agapanthus, begonias, sago palm, sweet olive, knockout roses and loropetalum.
The design will allow beautiful color almost year-round and become more lush as the plants mature.
