The Hammond Garden Club has selected the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Farris as the August Garden of the Month.
Located on Blackburn Road in Hammond, you can’t miss the beautiful lawn and crepe myrtles that line the street. Past that is a lush garden surrounding the house. The eye dances around looking at all the beautiful plants and the large shade oak tree that begs you to sit and have a rest.
As Mrs. Farris, Tracy, said, “It’s just a country home and garden. The ground plants include several varieties of Coleus, yellow and white African Daisy, Angelonia, Lantana, Plumbago, Coreopsis, African Petunia (that I wish would go away!), Polka Dots, Hydrangea, and of course Caladium among other things. My ‘go-to’ window box plants are usually, a mixture of small caladium, asparagus fern and my all-time favorite Calibrachoa with a splash of Vinca.
“I just throw some things in the ground and hope for the best and try to let the plants tell me where they enjoy living. I hope that next year
